door
closers
commonly installed on emergency exits, which need to be closed in case of fire. This helps to prevent the spread of fire and smoke and also play a role in maintaining average cooling temperatures, since colder air does not vent out for longer periods if the door remains closed for longer periods. There are 2 main types of door closers:
Manual Door Closers: usually slide-track arm and regular arm surface mounted. The manual closer stores the energy used in the opening of the door in a compression or torsion spring and releases it to close the door in order to limit the speed at which the door closes. Most manual closers use hydraulic (oil-filled) and spring mechanism as dampers.
Automatic Door Closers: open & close the door typically under the control of a push button, motion detector or other device.
